Empowerment Achievements:
- Metropolitan rated top of the SA financial services sector in the March 2004 Financial Mail/Empowerment Index Black Economic Empowerment rankings. The top 200 JSE-listed companies were reviewed with Metropolitan being placed 4th overall (all sectors). The Empowerment Index is a measurement tool developed by black economic empowerment research and rating agency Empowerment Index (Pty) Ltd specifically to address the problems associated with measuring, and advancing, black economic empowerment in South Africa.
